Reiki is Japanese and is composed out of two words:

Rei    =    universal           en             Ki     = lifeforce

Reiki is an energyhealing-technique given via the hands and has been passed on from master to apprentice, through a ritual of initiation. There are three degrees: the First, Second and Thirth or Masterdegree.

A full reikitreatment uses different handpositions from head to toe on both sides of the body and is given through the clothes. Reiki has been called by some "warmth-massage" due to the strong energy that is released from the treater's 'handpalms.

Reiki has been given the following benefits:

Assists the body in cleaning itself from toxins

Creates deep relaxation and aids the body to release stress and tension

It accelerates the bodie's self-healing abilities

Aids better sleep

Reduces blood pressure

Can help with accute (injuries) and chronic problems (asthma, eczema, headaches, etc.) and aides the breaking of addictions

Helps relieve pain

Removes energy blockages, adjusts the energy flow of the endocrine system bringing the body into balance and harmony

Reduces some of the side effects of drugs and helps the body to recover from drug therapy after surgery and chemotherapy

Supports the immune system

Increases vitality and postpones the aging process

Raises the vibrational frequency of the body

Helps spiritual growth and emotional clearing

Scientific research (Dr. Robert Becker and Dr. John Zimmerman) showed already in the 1980's that the effect of the reiki-pulsing stimulates healing in the fysical body of both the reiki-practitioner and the reiki-receiver.

Reiki originates from Japan and has been re-discoverd (in its current form that is) by Japanese theologist Dr. Mikao Usui around the year 1900. He received at that time a number of ancient symbols that form the key in healing with Universal energy. These symbols have been passed on from master to apprentice. Chujiro Hayashi  has been initiated - as the first - by Mikao Usui to become a Reiki-Master. He, on his turn, initiated around the year 1938, the American-Japanese, Mrs Hawayo Takata as a Reiki-Master.

She was the first woman who received the Reiki-master degree and followed her reiki-education at the Reiki-clinic in Tokyo, Japan. She was also the one who brought Reiki towards the U.S.A. during the 1970's. She initiated 22 Reiki-Masters.

Nowadays, reiki is given as a complementary healing method in different hospitals in the U.S., as well as Japan and even Israel. Slowly, but surely reiki becomes known as an effective and widely respected natural healing method.
Reiki complements and enhances the health care the patient receives in the hospital or from other health care providers.

Reiki healing complements Eastern and Western medicine and everybody can benefit from it.It is beneficial to the health of woman (even pregnant), man, children and it is also excellent to be used on animals (dogs, cats, horses), plants, water, etc.

Reiki healing energy is a tool for use at any moment, any time, any where for on-the-spot stress release, pain relief and quick energy.

At present, there are appr. 2 million reiki-practitioners worldwide.
